Rehearsals & Band Commitments

Why join us?
Joining a band is a fantastic way of improving your playing skills, in a fun, supportive environment. Playing as part of a group can also give you experience that you cannot gain alone, such as listening to others and blending with other instruments. Also, you will develop confidence in reading music where you are holding a musical part, rather than simply playing the melody. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of a wonderful overall sound. With Dynamics you have the chance to play in front of an audience in varying surroundings, and to give something back to the community.

What are the basic commitments?
We rehearse Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm - 9.30pm with a short break at half time for refreshments and a good natter! The rehearsals are at Orchard Park Community Centre, Badger Paddock, in Huntington, York. Please see the map here.

How much does it cost?
Once you have decided to join the band, there is a small subscription charge of £6 per month to cover the costs for sheet music, rehearsal venue hire and refreshments.

What other commitments are there?
On top of the basic rehearsal schedule, we play at gigs throughout the year. Our busiest periods are during summer and over Christmas, usually at weekends, but occasionally on week nights too. You will need to be available for most of these, but if you cannot make a gig date, we are very flexible and are usually able to work around your schedule too.
